Apparently the Ronald Reagan (CVN 76) slipped anchor in what the Navy calls a “surge” deployment. Not sure if this surge talk is just fashionable or part of common Naval lingo (I have never heard it used before, but then again I am not a swabbie).
Some say the carrier is headed to WESTPAC, others say the
"Surge" is common lingo in the Navy. It's usually an unexpected underway period for a ship whose turn in the rotation isn't quite up yet. As far as the REAGAN goes, she was the carrier holding the fort down in the Fifth Fleet last summer, relieved by ENTERPRISE which was in turn relieved by the EISENHOWER. Seeing as how we have several more carriers who have yet to rotate into the area, REAGAN's deployment into the Gulf would be completely unexpected. Let's hope it's just sea trials for drilling purposes.
ReplyDeleteI recently stumbled upon this blog. After reading a few posts, I am assuming this is a conservative blog and that at least one of the team members is a Citadel graduate. Is there also a Citadel-Brigadier-Pimpernel connection? As a Citadel grad and former "Pimp" I am curious about the blog. Are you taking applications for additional team mates? Maybe with a less conservative view? What is the purpose/target of the blog? (I tried to email directly to a team mate, but couldn't find an email link.)
ReplyDeleteYou are correct in your assumptions about connections. The details are hidden in various “about” pages linked here and there, not prominently as they once were, because I like for folks to read and try to understand us rather than say “go here and see what we are about and where we came from”. Likewise, the email address links are here, just not easy to find. We moved those as well because past experience on other blogs demonstrated that a bulk of comments comes in the form of emails instead of onsite comments. We get less feedback this way but at least all feedback is now for public consumption.
ReplyDeleteThere is also the real fact that we maintain anonymity for various professional reasons. Our secrecy allows us to be regular people with opinions and a voice.
Conservative is probably a label that simply does not fit us for to conserve means to preserve something that still exists. Many of the things we believe in no longer exist. Reactionaries might be a proper term, I am certainly best labeled as a paleoconservative, Johnnie likes the term anarcho-capitalist but neither term fits exactly. That is the problem trying to place a nice label on a philosophy, it just never fits exactly.
Our purpose is rather simple – we believe things are not right on a number of levels and our endeavors are geared toward articulating that. (Yes the spirit of the “Pimp” lives in this regard) We disdain ideology and dogma and adhere to core principles of what right ought to look like.
If you are really interested in writing with us, send me an email describing your worldview and outlook – remain as anonymous as you wish. We will take a gander and discuss this with you further. southernnationalist@gmail.com.
